Andon Ryokan is one of the fine guest houses around our tour base of Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour. They now offer day use plan, that you can use a room from 9:00 to 17:00 with lunch and bathing.

The room we used was rather small, but good enough for work with a PC.

You can see typical residential area of Tokyo from the roof.

Lunch is served at cafe on the ground floor.

This gorgeous plate so surprised me!

After the work, you can bathe free of charge.

They serve alcohol drink and food with reasonable prices at cafe in the evening.

Located in Yanaka, where we Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour usually cycle on our tour, they have 4 floors with fine authentic Japanese style rooms.

At the ground floor, there is a cozy common room.

You can drink free coffee, tea and sweet there.

Breakfast is also serves there with extra 440 JPY.

If you stay at a room without bath, you can use Japanese style common bath on the ground floor.

Toden cafe, where we Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour has our cycle tour base inside, has now special seasonal menu “Sehhyoka(雪氷花)”, a shaved ice of Taiwan style.

Different from Japanese traditional shaved ices, its ice contains milk, thus the taste is rather mild.

Toden cafe has 2 kinds of menu; mango and strawberry with only 600 JPY each. Of course, both contains a plenty of fresh fruits. It must be ideal to eat after joining our Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour to cool down your body.

A shaved ice, Kakigori (かき氷) in Japanese, is one of the most popular Japanese sweets especially in summer time.

Among a lot of cafes and shops serving saved ices, some of them have menus of very gorgeous ones.

They have, for example, fresh fruits inside.

You often need to make a long queue to eat them, but it must be worth waiting!

We found a fine dining serving wonderful sashimi bawl (Kaisendon in Japanese) near our Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour‘s cycling course.

It is “Noguchi sengyoten”, located under the Tokyo skytree.

Their menu book has a few sashimi bawls, and all of them are so big and instgramatic.

This is what we ordered “Special Toyosu market Kaisendon” with 2,200 JPY only.

It’s like the Skytree, isn’t it?

If you eat this kind of bawl at authentic Japanese sushi restaurant, a price must be more than twice.

We Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour had a bike our for 3 guests form Spain on 23, May.

Unlike miserable weather of previous tour, we had a perfect day on the day.

A wonderful view of the Tokyo Skytree was seen from the Sakurabashi bridge over the river Sumida.

We usually have a rest at Chomeiji Sakuramochi, a Japanese traditional sweets shop, however, we can not eat them inside due to COVID-19. Thus, we enjoyed the sweets on the bank of river nearby.

They had lot of fun at the Yanaka Ginza shopping mall and ate Takoyaki, octopus balls.

Finally, we visited a local liquor shop, “Moritaya”, and had explanation about Japanese Sake.

We wish they have a nice stay in Tokyo, and hope see them again

We Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour had a bike our for 5 guests form Spain and Brazil on 16, May.

Due to COVID-19, we didn’t have oversea’s guests recently, so that, we are so happy to have the tour for them.

Although it was raining lightly, they enjoyed the backstreets of Tokyo as well as popular touristic places.

They have just arrived in Japan, and they are supposed to be in Tokyo until the mid of September for their business.

We hope they have pleasant days in Tokyo, and see them again some time.

We Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour had great bike tours with lovely students of Temple university Japan campus.

Located at Sangenjaya, Tokyo, this university accepts students from various countries. The bike tours organized as one of university’s activities.

On the day of tours, about 15 students including staff really enjoyed cycling under the sunny spring sky.

We visited some Japanese traditional site such as temples, shrines, but what we really enjoyed was wonderful Sakura, cherry blossoms which fully bloomed.

Sakura usually blooms about only 2 weeks from the end of Mar. to the beginning of Apr., so that it must has been the perfect time to see Sakura for us.

Blooming Sakura is going to finish now, but spring is the best time to cycle on backstreets in Tokyo.

We Tokyo Backstreets Bike Tour had a walking tour at Asakusa, Tokyo, with 5 participants from the Temple university Japan campus.

They are from various countries and study in Japan, and we organized a private tour for them as one of the activities of students.

We started walking through the central Asakusa, then eventually went into inside of the town.

It was so chilly day, but it gradually became to be warmer.

Some of them bought amulets and drew a fortune telling.

When we visited the Usijima shrine (牛嶋神社), we saw a group of police station nearby. They prayed the safety of their mission through 2021 not only for policemen but also police vehicles.

We hope they enjoyed our walking tour, and have a happy new year 2021.
