Cycling through Tokyo’s downtown residential neighborhoods.
This tour avoids Tokyo’s famous tourist spots. Instead, we cycle through downtown Tokyo’s residential areas, the Nakagawa River—an oasis in the city center—and Kameido Tenjin Shrine, famous as the god of academic achievement.
We return while viewing the Tokyo Skytree. You’ll see the daily lives of Tokyo residents, unlike the areas flooded with foreign tourists like Shibuya or Shinjuku. At Kameido Tenjin, you can also enjoy traditional Japanese sweets.
Place to visit
Kirakira Tachibana Shopping Mall（キラキラ橘商店街）
This is known as one of the old-town district. Shopping mall there is a low-key commercial area where a lot of local people live, and old shops and buildings gather.
Kyu-Nakagawa river（旧中川）
One of the rivers in eastern Tokyo. It is famous for its Kawazu cherry blossom trees in spring.
Kameido shopping street（亀戸の商店街）
A shopping district used daily by local residents. It gets crowded in the evening.
Kameido Tenmangu shirine（亀戸天満宮）
A shrine known as the deity of academic pursuits. Famous for its wisteria blossoms in spring.
Funabashiya （船橋屋）Japanese sweets shop
A long-established Japanese confectionery shop renowned for its kuzumochi, this kuzumochi is made by removing gluten and steaming lacto-fermented wheat starch. It features a subtle aroma, a hint of tartness, and a supple texture.
Tokyo skytree（東京スカイツリー）
The tallest tower in Japan. We cycle under this tower.
